Our Story
Aterra Real Estate Holdings owns and manages a diverse portfolio of commercial and residential real estate investments. Founded by Thomas Bernau, Aterra traces its beginnings to 2003 when Mr. Bernau made his first commercial real estate investment in Des Moines, Iowa. Since that time, the Aterra portfolio has grown to approximately 150 commercial and residential properties.
Aterra has been recognized on the Inc. 5000 list as one of the fastest-growing private companies in America for three consecutive years: 2015, 2016 and ranking #3709 in 2017. Our portfolio holdings are located primarily in the Midwest and have expanded with locations in seven different states, including Iowa, Illinois, Missouri, Nebraska, Wisconsin, Texas and Florida. The Aterra team targets investments that yield attractive stabilized cash returns and are well positioned for long term holding.
